Pink Floyd’s Live Album Cover Art for “Delicate Sound of Thunder” is a perfect combination of lighting, artwork, and music. The album cover art is a reference to the sound and lighting of a live Pink Floyd Show – the flock of birds represent the sound, and the light bulbs represent the incredible lighting display at a live Floyd show.

Recorded over five nights at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island, New York in August 1988 and mixed at Abbey Road Studios, “Delicate Sound of Thunder” was released on November 22, 1988, through EMI Records in the United Kingdom and Columbia Records in the United States. The album features majors hits from Pink Floyd including Time, Another Brick in the Wall Part II, Money, Wish You Were Here and Comfortably Numb.

Delicate Sound of Thunder became the first rock album to be played in space, as Soviet cosmonauts took it aboard Soyuz TM-7. They left the cassette box on Earth to save weight. The members of Pink Floyd were present at the launch.
